How to connect Meta (Facebook & Instagram)
Facebook and Instagram share a single Meta Business Manager authorization flow. Connecting one account gives you access to both platforms.1
Open channel settings
In the Exerta app, go to Settings → Channels in the left sidebar.
2
Add a new channel
Click Add Channel, then select Facebook / Instagram from the list of available platforms.
3
Authorize via Meta Business Manager
A Meta Business Manager authorization pop-up appears. Log in with the account that has admin access to your Pages, then select the specific Pages you want to connect to Exerta.
4
Grant permissions
Review and grant the permissions Exerta requests. Exerta only requests the permissions it needs to read comments, send replies, hide content, and manage DMs — nothing beyond that.
5
Confirm your connection
Once authorized, your connected Pages appear in the Channels list. Agents can be activated on any of these Pages immediately — no additional setup required.
How to connect TikTok

In the Exerta app, go to Settings → Channels in the left sidebar.
2
Add a new channel

3
Authorize via TikTok Business API
Exerta redirects you to the TikTok Business API authorization page. Log in with the TikTok Business account that has admin access to your TikTok profile.
4
Grant permissions
Review and approve the permissions Exerta requests. These cover comment reading, comment hiding, and reply posting on your TikTok content.
5
Confirm your connection
Once authorized, your TikTok profile appears in the Channels list and is ready for agent activation.
How to connect Website Chat
Website Chat uses a lightweight script tag rather than an OAuth flow. After enabling the channel in Exerta, you receive a JavaScript snippet to paste into your site’s<head>. The agent loads automatically on every page once the snippet is present — no further configuration is needed to go live.
1
Open channel settings
In the Exerta app, go to Settings → Channels in the left sidebar.
2
Add Website Chat
Click Add Channel, then select Website Chat from the list.
3
Copy your script tag
Exerta generates a unique script snippet for your workspace. Copy it — it looks like this:
4
Paste the snippet into your site
Add the snippet inside the
<head> tag of every page where you want the chat widget to appear. On Shopify, paste it in Online Store → Themes → Edit Code → theme.liquid inside the <head> section.5
Confirm your connection
Load any page of your site. The chat widget appears in the bottom corner and your Website Chat channel shows as Connected in Exerta. You can now assign an AI agent to handle visitor conversations.
Full customization options (widget color, greeting message, business hours, and Shopify cart recovery) are covered in the Website Chat channel guide.
If a connection expires — for example, because you changed your password or revoked Exerta’s permissions — Exerta will email you immediately. You can reconnect in a single click from Settings → Channels without losing any of your agent configurations.
